Tots & Turkey

Green bean casserole and stuffing in the oven. Turkey waiting to be prepped.Dad on his way over. Louis and the boys napping. We are having a Thanksgiving dinner with some friends today. It'll be our third year hosting a Thanksgiving. Nothing fancy. No new tablecloth, mix matched dishes that'll probably turn to paper plates, not enough seats at the table, but just right nonetheless.

The brothers are too little to understand this whole holiday mess, but I know they're going to love it. I already feel like a kid again and I'm so grateful that I get to relive these years through the eyes of my sweet boys. I can't wait to have traditions with them, to teach them to cook, watch movies, to play and laugh and scream with excitement around people who love them so dearly. I'm gonna savor every second and hold on to this magical feeling forever.

Before I get back in the kitchen, and grab some bottles since my Rocco boo is now awake, here's a quick update:

At 6 months, the brothers tried real food! So far they've had avocado, sweet potato and green beans. Obviously their least favorite at this point is green beans. Rocco is impatient and hungry, Sonny is curious but not famished, and I am learning all the do's and don'ts of baby cuisine. They're sleeping great, though I'm afraid to mention that because every time I do it seems like they regress.

They chatter away in the morning and bang their toys on their cribs. If they see us, their little faces light up into the most perfect, giant smiles and it's all I can do not to explode right in front of them. I can never wait to wrap my arms around their tiny bodies and kiss their squishy cheeks. I've always been a morning person, but even more so these days. We sing and dance and bop around until they insist on having breakfast, then eat, play, rest, and do it again. All day long.

They're both about 20 pounds of delight and in the 84-86 perecentiles for both height and weight - and every day around here is absolute heaven.

Happy Thanksgiving week, friends!

Tiny Treats

Sike. I was not back to my old self because I was overtaken with bronchitosaurus. That's the boy mom version. The good news for me and everyone else is that today I'm back to my old self thanks to some steroids, antibiotics, codeine and lots of sleep courtesy of Louis.  So the past week or so I have been hacking my life away but still doing fun stuff in silence....like...

Happy Halloween!
Trick
Or Treat?!
Skeleton Twins?
Tiny. Nighties.
Trick Or Treating neighborhood block party partyyyy!
Midday Modeling Shoot.
Trying not to get the baby sick but he's so cute all I want to do is jam my face against his gooey squishiness.
Babies let's please have a nap.
Poor tiny may have gotten a little bit sick.
But first I forgot about our Tuesday movie date. Nothing like jarring music and subtitles for Hawks with Babies but hey, it's the first bad movie we've seen at this baby event. And I had a beer so it's still a win.
Sweet baby loves his toy even while napping.
Marathoning in the hood.
And today after the pediatrician (babies have a tiny cold but they are fine thank goodness), the most beautiful fall weather and walk through the park.
Snack time at home...jams till noon is all the rage.
Lounge seession.
WHAATTTT!
Dream babies breakin my heart with this hand holding.
Roll practice.
Besties playtime.
Snoozey boo while mama gets some work done.

Hope everyone had a fun Halloween! My little skeletons obviously loved it and I certainly enjoyed eating the Reeses Pieces. I'm excited for this week, hope you are too!

Bottles Books & Beer

These social birds were so much fun yesterday. Every day really, but lately we haven't been getting out of the house quite as much. I was really determined there for awhile, but now I give into their natural schedules and love being at home with them. Things are a lot easier at home.  During their naps I get food prepped for dinner, clean, order important things on amazon, and handle my other grown up (nightmare) responsibilities like signing up for health insurance. Speaking of, I feel patient and calm the majority of the time, but let me tell you I'm so tired of calling companies, waiting on hold, answering the same questions twelve times in a row, getting disconnected. Over. It. My new technique is half a second after the computer voice comes on I shout "REPRESENTATIVE REPRESENTATIVE" over and over until I'm transferred to a human. Clearly twin moms did not design these call services. I have no extra minutes in my day and if they don't hurry up a baby is going to wake, then I'm out of commission for another 1-3 hours and next thing we all know it's 6pm and they are closed and I can never go to the doctor again. Anyway. Welcome to Oscar.

Back to my birds. A real photographer would have moved the diaper genie but hey, it's heavy.

 Supermodels?
So Louis got home right in the midst of my insurance madness and the house was a wreck, I was a greasy ball of grime, bed unmade annnnnd the weather was gorgeous. All I wanted was to fast forward so we could get outside and enjoy our day together, but everything takes a lifetime. My productive mood quickly turned to defeat. I complained and was angry for awhile, then took a shower and slapped on some makeup. I did a baby photo shoot because how could I not, and then we went out for a late lunch at Roebling Tea Room. We had lots of kale and greens in a power bowl accompanied by salty, crunchy, perfect french fries. And iced coffee. Then we walked the block to our mailing parcel where we picked up my most recent Amazon finds (makeup, kids books, legal pads, moving dolly) and stopped at Good Company - a bar across the street from our apartment. They have a big outside space and don't mind our double stroller get up, so we hauled ourselves right in for Brooklyn lager in the pretty sunshine. The babies were totally in the mood for a fab hangout because they are so cute and fun.

 Bottles and books and beer

I loved yesterday.

And today...Baby feet kick kick kick
Booking moves all day every day.....not really but in between stuff whenever I can. I've worked at a computer corresponding with people all day long since 2007 so it brings a bit of normalcy back getting to work with Louis. It's also fun for me to be a part of this business he created. He is always impressing me with his smart businessman ways.
  Snuggle breaks always

My snoozers will soon be awake so that's all for now my friends. Hope your day is the loveliest!

Greenmarket Saturdays

Good morning!

We had a delightful weekend and I'm so happy that it's sunny, cool and crisp outside. For obvious reasons, Saturdays have always been my favorite day of the week. I sort of wondered if that would change now that I am staying home because all of our days are mostly the same, but I still just love a Saturday. The past few weeks I've made a real effort to get us out of the house for the Greenpoint McCarren Park Greenmarket. Even if I'm not in the mood to unpack a big setup and lounge in the park, I still enjoy a nice walk and picking out delicious and fresh produce. I love seeing all the families, especially the kids running around while learning about different fruits and veggies that are in season. I love sampling the peaches and pickles. I love the smells of herbs and flowers. I love that I can take the cover off of the stroller and walk through the shade while my boys look around taking it all in, staring at the trees and smiling at strangers. It's a small little market and I can't get everything I need there, but I've been cutting back on my grocery orders to support these local farmers as much as possible.  I'm considering joining a farmshare but haven't had the chance to sign up. Perhaps, today.

This weekend, Rocco was particularly excited about our outing.

 Shopping can be exhausting.

 SHEESH, MOM

These two have been so happy lately. Typically after the market they are ready to eat and sleep the second we walk in the door - and by that I mean by the time I bring up all the bags and double stroller they are screaming wondering where the heck are their bottles.Saturday they were in the best moods and didn't mind hanging out while they waited on me to prepare lunch.

The plums on the right are not good so I'm going to freeze them for smoothies. So far everything else has been perfection.

Annnd lately:

Anniversary celebration at the pool!
 Double Tube
Labor Day Picnic at the park
Papa time is the best time

 Looking very identical here, right?!

Have a great week!
